Precisely because they are not easy to find and recognize, the remains of the Roman road are one of my favorite little things that I discovered in Lovinac. For kids and those who feel that way, it will be a real little archeological adventure. Be Indiana Jones for 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The channels visible in the attached photo were not created by the action of water, but by the passage of wheels. Those are ruts. In addition to them, you can also see parts of the cobblestones, the finely arranged paving of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you think that's old, know that remains from the Late Copper Age were recently found in test probes on Cvitusa, which would be roughly 4,500 years ago, or 2-3 times older than the Roman road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 250 from the bridge near Cvitu\u0161a, a macadam road branches off. At the beginning of it there is a signpost for the Roman road. Don't drive any further but park right at the beginning of the dirt road and start exploring, because exploring is the most fun part.
