It is immediately clear even to the uneducated eye that this bridge has an unusual detail. These are openings that should reduce lateral impacts on the bridge structure in case of high water. And that detail is what makes this bridge special.

In fact, I'm now wondering if that counts as two details, perhaps? However, everything else is, more or less, a classic example of stone bridge construction of that time and place. In case you are wondering, construction started in 1929 and was completed 7 years later.
