Forests and parks are the lungs of the city, but for the lungs you also need a heart. Gospić's heart is not big enough for such a large park. Jasikovac with its 80 hectares needs a lot of love and attention, and from what I've seen, both are chronically lacking.

To make sure there is no confusion, it is obvious that a lot of money, effort and creativity have been invested in the arrangement of this forest park. In addition to classic park equipment, you can find gazebos, equipment for playing and exercising, and even a rock for climbing. However, all this needs to be preserved and maintained, and I think that this is exactly where Gospić and the people of Gospić fail the test here.

The forest park was named after the Austrian general Jasyk, who became its proud father at the beginning of the 19th century. For a while it was a favorite picnic spot for the people of Gospić, but over time it slowly lost its luster. The most damage was done by the Italians in 1943, and this is the second case I have come across in Lika, where they cut down a valuable forest. It seems that they have been used to stealing our wood since the time of Venice. We need to go to war with them again.
